About the competition

Make Your Mark in Fashion set young people aged 14-30 the challenge to form a team and create a new range, to complement and enhance an established sustainable fashion label.

At stage one teams were required to choose a mentor from one of nine sustainable fashion businesses. They provided sketches of their designs and  a simple but effective business plan detailing the process they would go through to produce their range, taking into account all elements from sourcing and manufacture through to point of sale. From the initial submissions each of the fashion businesses chose one team to be short-listed for the next stage of the competition.

On 17th April 2008 the nine shortlisted teams came to London to present their ideas to a panel which included a representative from each of the business mentors. Three teams were chosen as finalists and they will work with their mentor businesses to develop samples from their range to show on the catwalk in an exclusive show, at The Hopsital Club, during London Fashion Week in September 2008
