The business
Ciel was created by designer Sarah Ratty who previously set up Conscious Earthwear. Sarah swapped the busy streets of London for the more relaxed and creative environment of Brighton, taking inspiration from bluer horizons. Ciel is a fashion label that already attracts an A-list following worn by Cate Blanchett, Sienna Miller and Zoe Ball.
Sourcing/manufacture
Ciel use fabric from a number of different sources, aiming to work with the most sustainable materials available. Recycled textiles are used as well as SKAL certified organic cotton from India, bamboo and hemp is also included in the collections. Hand knitted organic alpaca is sourced from Peru. Man-made fabrics are used, assuming they have been certified by Oekotex
Ciel work with UK manufacturers to produce garments, as well as local development groups in India.
